What to Pack for Himalayan Treks
A practical Nepal trek packing framework for clothing, medicine, documents, electronics, water, and cold-weather trail decisions.
Pack for layers, not one temperature
Nepal treks move through warm valleys, damp forests, windy ridges, and cold lodges. A flexible layering system beats one heavy jacket. Carry base layers, insulation, rain shell, warm hat, sun hat, gloves, and dry socks.
The goal is to stay dry enough, warm enough, and able to adjust quickly when sun turns to wind.
Health kit
Carry personal medication, blister care, water purification, sunscreen, lip balm, rehydration salts, and basic first aid. Ask a medical professional about altitude medication before travel.
A small kit only works if you know what is inside and can reach it quickly.
Documents and money
Keep passport copies, permits, insurance details, emergency contacts, and cash in protected pouches. Phone copies help, but paper backup still matters when batteries die or screens crack.
Use TrekGuard checklists before departure, then do one final check the night before trailhead travel.
